A photo editor and organizer for the Mac

Phosgraphy, drawing with light!

Edit RAW files in a real darkroom, let on-device AI sort a lifetime of shots, and turn the best of them into stories you can publish. Your photos stay on your Mac until you choose to share them.

The Darkroom

Lights down. Safelight on.

Editing happens in a near-black room where the only colour is your photo. The tool you're using glows warm amber, like a darkroom safelight. Press L for Focus mode and everything but the image falls away. Press F to go full screen.

  • Full RAW pipeline. CR3, NEF, ARW and DNG decoded on the GPU with Core Image and Metal, so sliders respond while you drag.
  • Masks and local edits. Subject masks, brushes, linear and radial gradients, each with its own exposure and colour.
  • Curves, HSL and colour grading. The tools you know, laid out for a big photo and a quiet room.
  • Non-destructive. Every edit is a recipe saved with the shot. The original file is never touched.

Library

One shot, one entry.

Your camera writes a CR3 and a JPEG. You exported a PNG for a friend. Phosgraphy sees one photograph and keeps it as one tile, with every version a click away.

  • Categories and indexes you define, from “Travel” to “Kestrels, by site”
  • Ratings, flags and colour labels that live with the shot
  • Search by place, date, camera, lens or anything the AI recognised

On-device AI

Your Mac does the sorting.

Vision and Core ML run on your Mac to tag scenes, places and people, group bursts, notice golden hour from the sun's position, and suggest projects from trips you forgot to organise.

Teach it your own classifications with a handful of examples. Twelve photos of a kestrel are enough to start finding the rest.

Photos never leave your Mac. Classification and indexing run locally, with no upload and no account needed.

Projects and posts

From a folder of shots to a story.

Gather photos into a project and Phosgraphy drafts a long-form post around them, with a title, a sequence and captions drawn from where and when you shot. Every word is yours to rewrite.

Share a project with friends, or publish it to its own page with full-resolution images served from your own storage.

Sources

Wherever your photos already live.

Point Phosgraphy at the folders you have. Originals stay where they are, on your disk, an external drive or in the cloud.
